AboutUs

Gilchrist County Museum

The Gilchrist County Museum is made up of members of Gilchrist County with the common interest of preserving the heritage, history and culture of Gilchrist County. Our Board of Directors consists of life-long members of our community and newcomers who come to us from different locations in and out of Florida. This diverse group has taken up the banner of creating a new museum to show how Gilchrist County has weathered it’s 100 years of existence after leaving Alachua County in 1925.

Primarily an agricultural center for both the dairy and farming industries, Gilchrist County is also home for a diverse of talented individuals and companies. Our growth and changes since 1925 have been considerable and have a story worthy of being told. We wish to give all our county’s stories a central location to be told for all our citizens and visitors.

Mission Statement

Gilchrist Museum is dedicated to preserving our history and culture of Gilchrist County for the benefit and education of future generations.
